Join us for a night of sea shanties and dark folk with The Salty Sirens and Gabrielle D'Arc.
Gabrielle D'Arc is a rising Bat Prince of folk.
Hailing from Kabi Kabi country, the strange raconteur is an old soul watching this new world spin. Her introspective lyrics will draw you in as the songbird's melodies are crowed with hints of folk, rock, Celtic, and blues.
Painting vignettes of feminine wrath or other such 'unseemly' emotions; her music is coloured by her love of mythology, poetry, and theatre.
Telling tales of life, death and all things in between.
Gabrielle D'Arc cut her teeth competing in the country music competition circuit as a child and teenager. Performing at festivals such as the Gympie Music Muster, the Urban Festival and various other community run festivals and competitions. Time and experience led her from her country roots and transmuted her into the dark folk songstress she is today. In recent years putting under her belt Coondoo Mountain Festival, Rockhampton River Festival, Woodfordia’s Small Halls Festival, and Moondoll Festival along with many local haunts.
Monsters, a song of self-acceptance, was Gabrielle’s first TV placement on American-Canadian comedy-drama, You Me Her. Secured after she received a Nashville songwriting scholarship during her Bachelor of Popular Music at the Queensland Conservatorium.
In the time since her last release, The Truth of Flowers, she has honed her craft and ventured further into the wilds of her mind drawing poetry from blooded soil and melodies from the hollows in her soul.
Oh, Mother is just the beginning or a new era of viciously authentic anthems.
“…it would be easy to mistake her as someone who’s been releasing music for decades.” -Blank GC
Lovers of swell sea shanties and rollicking singalongs, The Salty Sirens are Kristy "Capstan"field (vocals and accordion) and Elyse "Fish"patrick (vocals and whale facts). Since 2021, they have been rocking boats the country wide with their flavour of sea shanties, SHE shanties and sea songs with a modern, queer twist, and now these sapphic sailors are sailing into Ipswich to lead you on a musical journey through traditional and modern nautical folk song, tales of shipwork, daring adventure, defiance and debauchery on the high seas.
Hoist the anchor and limber up those sealegs - these really aren't your grandpa's sea shanties!
