Folk'N'Shanty Night

Join us for a night of sonic mysticism and she shanties with Zemzemeh and The Salty Sirens.

Zemzemeh is the duo of Iranian–Australian artist Siyavash Doostkhah and Australian multi-instrumentalist Greta Kelly, blending ancient Persian instruments with live electronics, conscious hip hop and hypnotic grooves.

The haunting sounds of tanbour and shah kaman collide with beats, theremini and immersive soundscapes to create a performance that shifts seamlessly between the sacred and the rebellious, the meditative and the explosive.

Part ritual, part underground gig, part sonic experiment, Zemzemeh draws equally from Persian mysticism, refugee stories, contemporary politics and global electronic music. No two performances are ever the same.

Expect deep grooves, ancient poetry, fearless words and sounds that refuse to stay in one genre.

Lovers of swell sea shanties and rollicking singalongs, The Salty Sirens are Kristy "Capstan"field (vocals and accordion) and Elyse "Fish"patrick (vocals and whale facts). Since 2021, they have been rocking boats the country wide with their flavour of sea shanties, SHE shanties and sea songs with a modern, queer twist, and now these sapphic sailors are sailing into Ipswich to lead you on a musical journey through traditional and modern nautical folk song, tales of shipwork, daring adventure, defiance and debauchery on the high seas.
