Banshees Bar presents Get Your Music Heard

Join us at Banshees Bar & Artspace, Ipswich for an immersive, hands-on workshop designed for emerging and mid-career musicians, bands, and artists who want to level up their live presence and industry knowledge.

If you’ve wondered why venues aren’t responding to your emails, if you have awesome recordings and they haven’t been played on community radio, or if you want to know how to talk to your sound engineer, this workshop is for you! 

Led by experienced facilitators Al Wheeler and Tim Glorious, alongside venue managers and industry professionals from Ipswich and Brisbane and members of the 4ZZZ crew, this is your chance to gain practical insider knowledge and make meaningful connections in your local music scene.

What you'll learn

This is a 3-hour workshop, with a different topic every hour. Feel free to drop in and out as you need.

Find out what venues want to know from the source, how to develop your audience across multiple platforms and communicate with other professionals in the music industry.

1–2 PM In conversation with venue owners, including Ruth Gardner (Cave Inn, Woolloongabba), Robert Anderson (PFR Lounge, Fortitude Valley), Al Wheeler (Banshees, Ipswich) and Christian MSG (Solidarity Kulture Club) learning:

  • How to pitch yourself to venues
  • What venue managers look for when programming artists
  • Building your network and grow your audience
  • Using social media effectively

2 - 3 PM Social mixer with members of the 4ZZZ community and learn:

  • How to get your music played on community radio
  • What captures a host's' attention

3-4 PM Practical stage workshop, discussing:

  • Working with sound engineers
  • Understanding equipment and terminology
  • Stage etiquette, professionalism, and performance presence
  • Microphone technique and live show essentials. 
    With two working sound engineers and live examples provided by Just Gus
