Banshees Presents The Humbuckin' Pickups with Tim Woodz…
THESE ARTISTS HAVE ALL BEEN GREAT FRIENDS FOR YEARS on the folk festival scene, and they’re coming together for a couple of super special SE QLD Shows ... DO NOT MISS THIS ONE! Tickets are limited and it will be an absolute hoot - 1 night only folks! Yeeeeeeeeeeeha!
THE HUMBUCKIN’ PICKUPS are a standout Australian roots act blending folk, country, and storytelling-driven songwriting with warmth, humour, and undeniable stage chemistry. At the heart of the band are Ewan Cloonan (songwriter, vocals, guitar, banjo, harmonica) and Mahney Cain (vocals, double bass, bones), whose seamless harmonies and driving rhythms have made them favourites at festivals including Woodford, Tamworth, and Gympie Muster.
Both members bring a wealth of experience to the stage. Cloonan’s musical journey began at folk festivals like Port Fairy, shaping his passion for storytelling and leading to award-winning songwriting recognition at Maldon Folk Festival. Cain, a seasoned performer and former frontwoman of The Hillbilly Goats, spent two decades at the forefront of Australia’s folk and country scene, earning multiple accolades including Golden Guitar nominations and Australian Folk Band of the Year (2022). Together, their combined histories create a dynamic synergy that is both polished and deeply authentic.
Formed in 2013, the band has built a strong reputation for original music grounded in real-life stories of regional Australia. Their latest single, “How the Other Half Live,” highlights their powerful narrative style and growing national profile. With a fourth studio album on the way and international touring ahead, The Humbuckin’ Pickups continue to win over audiences wherever they go.
TIM WOODZ
The wandering Tim Woodz has spent the last four years on a non-stop tour, hitting festivals and intimate shows along the east coast, becoming somewhat of a songwriter’s songwriter in the folk music scene.
“Fragile yet bold, effervescent yet muted, the music swells with emotion and intimacy. It’s the perfect way to leave a budding audience satisfied, yet in desperate need of more.” — Melbourne’s Beat Magazine.
Tim’s performances are enigmatic, with songs backed by acoustic guitar, banjo, harmonica and cassette tapes, all delivered with sharp comedic timing, raw tunes, and an energy that’s equal parts heart and chaos.
