This month The Salty Sirens are proud to present their musical mateys from the bush, Bard For Life!
The family band, Bard For Life sings about Irish rebels, English outcasts, the despair of Australia's working class, the shearers' strikes of the 19thC and the great depression. With a repertoire as varied as the Australian experience, they embody the traditional Australian narrative, with a pinch of Celtic punk.
Lovers of swell sea shanties and rollicking singalongs, The Salty Sirens are Kristy Capstanfield (vocals and accordion) and Elyse Fishpatrick (vocals and whale facts). Since 2021, they have been rocking boats the country wide with their flavour of sea shanties, SHE shanties and sea songs with a modern, queer twist, and now these sapphic sailors are sailing into Ipswich to lead you on a musical journey through traditional and modern nautical folk song, tales of shipwork, daring adventure, defiance and debauchery on the high seas. Hoist the anchor and limber up those sealegs - these really aren't your grandpa's sea shanties!
Please note ticket prices on the door will be $20/$25 (unwaged/waged) to encourage pre-sales. This helps the artists to plan their events!
