Eugene and the Egg first unleashed their psych post-punk on bewildered crowds in 1983 and 1984. After a 30-year hibernation, they cracked open in the new millennium, sensing their moment had arrived. So far, it's been sweet.
Catch the Egg’s psych post-punk travelling salvation show at Banshees for a towering night of sound and spectacle, joined by local slow-burning alt-country legends The Emmavilles, plus the gritty, storytelling, joy-charged hoedown energy of Waiting for Brenda.
Yee-hah. Expect communion. Expect chaos. Things are gonna get weird.
First up: Formed in 2019, The Emmavilles are an alt-country rock band from Tulmur/Ipswich, Australia. Blending sentimental storytelling with slow-burning guitar driven tones, their songs recall subjects closest to their hearts; childhood memories, family dysfunction, dystopian dreamings, and observations of middle age life in a modern age.
Followed by: Eugene and the Egg don’t just play music – they crack it open, fry it up, and throw the pan against the wall. Their sound? Part garage. Part post-punk. Black metal attends a séance in the backcountry. Psychedelic late-night fever dreams. On stage, they're unpredictable – from whisper to storm surge. Expect howls. You won’t sit still. They’re not here to soothe. They’re here to shake loose the parts of yourself you pretend not to hear.
And the closer: Waiting for Brenda is a Brisbane alt-country band blending storytelling, grit, and heartfelt melodies with humour, empathy, and a live energy that sparks joy and connection. Tunes that will make you tap your feet or break your heart….
