Opens July 26 and runs until August 29
Botanica Obscura explores the intricate relationship between humanity and the botanical world through a collection of mixed media works, gouache paintings and digital illustrations. The exhibition examines the profound influence that plants and humans have had on each other through selective breeding to create new flowers, fruits and plants to symbiotic relationships and symbolism to their quiet presence in our everyday lives. At the same time, the works reflect upon the lasting imprint florals has left upon the human world. Through layered compositions and contrasting textures, Botanica Obscura considers themes of growth, consumption, resilience, and transformation, inviting viewers to contemplate the delicate balance between people and the ecosystems that sustain them. Moving between the organic and the constructed, the exhibition reveals both the beauty and fragility of this relationship. Each piece serves as a meditation on the unseen connections that bind human experience to the botanical realm, encouraging reflection on our responsibility toward the living landscapes that surround us.
